These include accessing reliable weather model data, obtaining licenses to share that data with our audience, developing and maintaining our smartphone app, and managing our website server. As time goes on, these recurring costs have increased and are only expected to increase further. And don’t even get us started on the one-time expenses we have to bear for computers, cameras, and ‘studio’ equipment! It’s definitely not easy on our pockets.

Storm chasing, rockets and aviation coverage can be quite costly! We don’t just rely on smartphones when we head out to chase storms or cover other things. Many of our team members have actually dipped into their own pockets to purchase high-end digital and video cameras. Let me tell you, streaming live video while storm chasing or covering rockets and other events can be quite a financial burden, especially when you take into account the hefty data charges. It’s not something that comes cheap, that’s for sure.

What’s the reason behind our request for support at this time? Like many others, we’re not big fans of asking for help. In fact, for much of the time, we’ve relied primarily on ad revenue generated from our website and socials to sustain our operations. Additionally, we have always hesitated to request financial support without being able to provide something valuable in return. However, our perspective has changed due to so many wanting to just support our platform and all those involved! Though we do try to provide exclusive content as well along with coming up with further ideas!
