There is an Enhanced Risk (Level 3/5) of Severe Weather Today!
All hazards are possible including significant large hail, damaging wind, and tornadoes, potentially including a strong tornado or two.
This risk runs from southern/eastern Arkansas into northern Mississippi and western Tennessee.
Other severe storms are possible across the Midwest, with isolated damaging wind and severe hail being the main threats.
A few storms are ongoing in Tennessee this morning with a few strong to severe thunderstorms possible as well this morning in parts of the South near the warm front.
However, Hail is the primary concern with these early storms.
Thunderstorms are then expected to develop this afternoon/evening and overnight in parts of the South and Midwest.
Areas from eastern Arkansas and northern Mississippi into western and middle Tennessee, including Memphis and Nashville, have the greatest threat of severe storms.
As a result of today’s severe weather chances, NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 3 on a 5 level threat scale for those locations as an enhanced risk!
